Comp-Tac® recently released the eV2™ Magazine Pouch, a new inside-the-waistband, hybrid mag pouch, for customers who want to carry a spare mag in the appendix position.
This hybrid pouch is made with a top-grain, cowhide leather backing and a Kydex® shell that holds the magazine. The pouch attaches to the belt with a nylon clip that is ride-height adjustable, allowing the user to set the height of the magazine in relation to their belt. The magazine pouch is tuckable to allow the shirt to be tucked in over the magazine for deep concealment.
Features of the eV2 Mag include:
- Top-grain cowhide leather
- Kydex body
- Nylon clip is ride-height adjustable and tuckable
- Index cut on leather and Kydex for improved draw capabilities
- Designed specifically for carrying compact magazines
- Created for wear in the appendix region for quick access
“Appendix carry has become more and more popular as the sizes of guns have gotten smaller,” explained Gordon Carrell, Comp-Tac general manager. “Many of our customers who concealed carry also like to carry a spare magazine. While many individuals can drop a spare mag in a pocket, the number of EDC items is on the rise. Having a magazine pouch helps to balance the load of wallet, flashlight, medical kit, keys, personal items, etc. The eV2 Mag complements our popular eV2 and eV2 Max holsters, giving users the ability to keep all their ‘hardware’ up front for easy access.”
High Speed Gear® recently expanded its duty line of gear with two new products, the Duty Triple Pistol TACO® and the Duty Double Pistol TACO® – Covered Plus.
These products were designed to meet popular demand from law enforcement seeking to carry additional magazines or fit high capacity pistol mags. While the Triple can hold three pistol mags as its name implies, the Plus is designed to fit either 21-round 9mm magazines, such as for the P320 X-Five, or 10-round 1911 mags. Both products are available now.
“We’re very excited about these two products,” said Bill Babboni, HSGI® vice president of sales and operations. “We’ve received a lot of requests for these two in particular and we’re always looking for ways to expand our catalog to better serve our men and women in blue.”
High Speed Gear® and Comp-Tac® recently received ten product recommendations in the National Tactical Officers Association’s “Member Tested and Recommended” program.
Select law enforcement officers thoroughly tested the Kydex® Tourniquet TACO® (4.74), Kydex Handcuff TACO (4.45), Operator Belt (4.55), Bleeder/Blowout Pouch (4.51), Double Decker® TACO – Covered (4.03), Mag-Net Dump Pouch V2 (4.46), Gas Mask Pouch V2 (4.41), Duty Flash Bang TACO (4.25), Ambidextrous Multipurpose Pouch (4.46), and the Warrior Holster (4.46) and rated them in the MTR’s two highest tiers. Each product was evaluated by four officers and graded on a variety of categories, including design, performance, quality, durability and versatility, with each group of officers’ scores averaged into the ratings listed above.
The MTR program ranks products as “standard” (rating from 3.00 to 3.99), “silver” (from 4.00 to 4.49) and “gold” (from 4.50 to 5.00). NTOA members can view the full reviews and scores in the Member Tested and Recommended database.
“I use this belt by running the Velcro® belt through my belt loops and then attaching the Operator Belt on top of it,” said an officer who rated the Operator Belt an overall 4.94. “It rides snugly and is very comfortable. The COBRA D-ring buckle is very sturdy and is overkill (in a good way). For those who like a low-profile belt, this is really good and is the best such belt I have tried. I intend to use it for general day-to-day investigative work and will keep my padded belt for tactical situations.”
“The Bleeder/Blowout Pouch is another item that I have added to my kit,” stated one officer, who gave the Bleeder a perfect 5.00 rating. “I use the blowout pouch in conjunction with an IFAK and the Kydex Tourniquet Pouch. I really like being able to have my shears secured and easily accessible and having a place designed to hold them. You can mount this on a belt system or on your MOLLE gear, making it a must have in my opinion for anyone needing to carry medical supplies. I can always find a use for this pouch no matter what the task is.”
Every HSGI® and Comp-Tac product submitted to the MTR for review not only passed for recommendation but also ranked highly.
“We are incredibly honored to have so many products rated so highly by our law enforcement officers,” said Allison Mitchum, HSGI director of sales and marketing. “We strive to create the best gear possible for our customers and are privileged to serve so many who serve.”

The system, constructed primarily with heavy-duty nylon laminate, allows rapid deployment of medical supplies. This system was designed around the medical supplies included in the U.S. Army-issued IFAK. The ReFlex Carrier and ReFlex Med Roll can be purchased together or separately.

The eV2™ Max Holster is a hybrid, appendix inside-the-waistband
(AIWB) holster designed to be so comfortable you forget you are
wearing it. This hybrid holster is a combination of a leather backing
that sits against the skin, with a Kydex® shell that holds the gun in the
front. The Kydex® shell minimizes the collapse of the holster after
draw, improving the ease of reholster when compared to all leather
IWB holsters. The two-ply leather backing was specifically designed to
maximize the comfort of the holster by placing smooth leather against
your skin, rather than hard plastic or metal hardware. With many
features made for concealability and functionality, the eV2™ is a
comfortable, concealable, ready-to-use variation for those who love the
appendix carry position.

High Speed Gear’s® new Adaptable Belt Mount (ABM) attachment format offers a sturdy, belt-width adjustable, anti-slide application for mounting HSGI® products to a belt. This attachment method uses a strip of durable, vinyl-backed, heavy-duty nylon laminate and reliable snap closure to create a belt loop. Two laser-cut slits enable the user to thread the loop smaller or larger for 1.5”-1.75” belts or 1.75”-2” belts, respectively. The inside of this fashioned belt loop features a patch of hook fastener designed to match up with the interior loop fastener of our rigger belts to lock the pouch in the desired position on your belt.
Additionally, ABM pouches feature a vertical channel behind the mounting panel. On some larger pouches, such as the ABM TACO® or Stun Gun TACO®, this channel is large enough to pass a belt through to mount the pouch sideways, as pictured below.
